The Beating Heart
Tiny little cogwheels that enchant the eye with their movement.
I watch my father and I see him stooped over, careful with his big
hands to assemble tiny pieces, tiny even for my small hands.
By magic, a beating heart is born: a watch!
This is what fascinated me about the work of my father, Luigi, and
my uncle Giuseppe, who together founded the Fabbrica Orologi di
Giuseppe Cavadini (Giuseppe Cavadini’s Watch Factory) in Como.
One day in 1998, I met Fabio, who shared this passion for
watches—inherited from his father, Valerio, and grandfather
Erberto, traditional tradesmen since 1924.
As soon as he could, after he finished school, he went to the offices
of Passoni Orologerie (Passoni Watchmakers) in Milan to live a
bit in that world, so different and fascinating. He listened to them,
enchanted, while they told him how the watch was born and features
of each component.
A story for each watch!
At the meeting of two different, but at the same time similar,
stories, a new idea was born in us: to make the watch customizable,
with Italian design and, above all, Italian manufacturing. “Designer del Tempo” was born.
